Protective Effect of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy on Cognitive Function
in Patients with Vascular Dementia
Research study appearing in the 28 May 2019 edition of the journal Cell Transplantation finds that Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy exerts a protective effect on the cognitive function in patients with vascular dementia. Vascular dementia is the second most common form of dementia following Alzheimer’s Disease accounting for 20% of the cases of dementia. The authors of the study suggests that the therapeutic effect of HBO on VD may be related to elevated serum Humanin levels.
