Backward in time’: Israeli scientists claim to reverse ageing
Administering pure oxygen in a pressurised chamber could reverse ageing and illness, research find
“In the study conducted over the course of three months, involved 64 individuals, 35 of whom were given oxygen treatment for 90 minutes a day, five times a week for three months. The results showed HBOT was able to elongate telomeres at rates far beyond any currently available interventions or lifestyle modifications,” Dr. Amir Hadanny said.
As we age, telomere length shortens with age. Progressive shortening of telomeres leads to senescence, cell death, development of human cancers, affecting the health and lifespan of individuals. Shorter telomeres have been associated with increased incidence of diseases and poor survival. This study added that the changes noted in the length reflected a reversal of 25 years of ageing, at least on cellular basis.
