Study suggest Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy enhances Quality of Life as we age
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a therapeutic treatment that enhances the body’s natural healing processes.
A study published in the journal “Aging” showed some promising results. Telomeres are the protective caps at the ends of our DNA’s chromosomes, and their length is a key factor in cellular aging — shorter telomeres indicate a more ‘aged’ cell and a higher risk of age-related diseases.
The study suggested that HBOT can induce significant telomere elongation. Thus, it may substantially impact cell aging and longevity. The process seems to be driven by the increased oxygen concentration during treatment, which can lead to certain biological and physiological changes supporting the extension of telomeres.
This research is exciting for the field of anti-aging and longevity. In parallel research initiatives HBOT has demonstrated positive effects in addressing depression, Parkinson’s Disease, dementia and optimizing cellular energy.
